Get Healthy This Year with 8-Week Wellness Challenge in Victoria
Did you know that by mid-February, most people have already abandoned their New Year’s resolutions? Don’t let yourself become a statistic. If you’ve been needing a little extra motivation to get moving, this is your sign to join Miles & Smiles: Walk Across Texas, a county-wide wellness challenge that turns getting active into something actually fun.
Miles & Smiles: Walk Across Texas is a FREE 8-week challenge led by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, and nothing boosts motivation like a little friendly competition.
We’re kicking things off with an Outdoor Health Expo on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 4:00–6:30 PM at 107 N. Star. Come hang out, grab wellness info, and get your team set up before logging officially begins.
Logging starts February 7, and you’ll have until April 3 (Good Friday) to track your miles. However, this isn’t just about walking. This challenge counts all kinds of movement. Workouts count. Strength training counts. Lifting weights counts. Even hula hooping counts! If it gets your body moving, it can help your team rack up mileage toward the goal of virtually walking across Texas.
HOW TO SIGN UP YOUR TEAM

You can participate solo, but it’s way more fun with a team. Teams can have up to 8 people, so grab your coworkers, friends, family, church group, or classmates and make it a weekly win.
The challenge wraps up with a celebration on April 9 from 6:00–7:30 PM at DeLeon Plaza, where we will name the top teams with the most miles logged.
Walk Across Texas
Anyone in Victoria County can create a team, so don’t overthink it. Just start and remember: every step, every workout, and every little effort counts.
Thank you to the following sponsors for making this healthy challenge happen: Sparklight, Detar Healthcare System, and The Joint.
