Let's just add this to the list of odd places smugglers have hidden drugs.  Last year, Nicolas Castro was caught attempting to smuggle meth in a plastic bag containing tacos and chips, according to a report by CLICK2HOUSTON.  Earlier this year, Authorities in Texas seized over four million dollars worth of crystal methamphetamine hidden within a large shipment of cucumber pickles making its way from Mexico into Texas. Castro attempted to enter the United States at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge and the K-9 hit on his bag.  During the inspection of Castro's 'lunch,' authorities found a plastic bag with tacos and chips. The bag tested positive for meth. After a little time, Castro told authorities he knew the tacos contained a kilogram of drugs and said he expected to be paid $1,500 to transport the drugs to Austin. What is the penalty for smuggling meth in tacos? An 87-month sentence followed by five years of supervised release.

The border between Texas and Mexico is very important for drug cartels trying to smuggle their wares into the country. Cartels are trying to sneak in any drug that you can think of. From crystal meth and heroin to marijuana and counterfeit pills, there is no shortage of illicit substances coming up from south of the border and into the United States via Mexico and Texas.
