As of right now, the wave is on a northwestward track across the Gulf of Mexico in the general direction of Texas into late week. Atmospheric conditions could become marginally conducive for this system to develop into a tropical depression once it reaches the central and northwest Gulf of Mexico Wednesday into Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

For now, we will call it an increased chance of rain this weekend.  The  potential for tropical development is nothing to be overly concerned about. But it should be a reminder that the typical peak of hurricane season is just around the corner and you should have a preparedness plan in place.

One model shows it right off of the Texas Coast, with a slight chance of development before it slides inland Monday night or Tuesday next week!
