Massive Shredded Cheese Recall Hits Texas Stores
No please, not the cheese! The FDA just announced a major recall of more than 260,000 cases of shredded cheese that could contain metal fragments.
The recall involves multiple store-brand cheeses produced by Great Lakes Cheese Co., and they were shipped out to retailers like Walmart, Target, and Aldi, all high traffic stores in Victoria.
The issue with the cheese is that there have been reports of some bags containing metal fragments due to a manufacturing problem.
The recall includes:
• Mozzarella
• Pizza blend
• Italian blend
• Mozzarella + provolone
• Mozzarella + parmesan
Basically the whole “sprinkle it on everything” lineup.
What To Do
Here is what the FDA recommends doing:
• Check your fridge ASAP
• Look for store-brand cheeses
• Match the UPCs and dates to the FDA recall list
• If it’s on the list: throw it out or return it
Don’t risk it no one wants to question why their taco is so sharp.
You can check out the full list of affected cheeses + UPC numbers through the FDA site here.
