The Houston Astros have just announced the Sugar Land Skeeters will become the Houston Astros AAA affiliate.  The Skeeters currently play at the 7,500 seat Constellation Field, located about 20 miles southwest of Minute Maid Park off Highway 6.  Currently, Corpus Christi is home to the Astros Double-A affiliate.  Which means, we literally are able to see Houston's top prospects develop from 2A to the pro ranks.  The Houston Astros 1A affiliate is currently located in Fayetteville, North Carolina.   The Round Rock Express which is the current Astros 3A team will now be looking for a new affiliation.   Early rumors are rolling around the Texas Rangers.

The Houston Astros are set to open up the 2021 season on the road versus the Athletics on Thursday, April 1st for a four-game set.  The Astros home-opener will be against those same Athletics for a three-game weekend series starting on Thursday, April 8th.  There will also be 18 games against the in-state rival Texas Rangers.
