BIG AND BOLD

Target has recently announced a bold decision to go maskless. In a recent press release, Target has confirmed, "Target no longer requires fully vaccinated guests and team members to wear face coverings in our stores." However, this move has posed a hefty question: how will they monitor those who are vaccinated and those who are not?

SHOW ME THE PROOF

Surely they couldn't ask to see proof of vaccination. I'm sure Governor Abbott would not take kindly to that. After all, back in April, he tweeted, "Texans shouldn't be required to show proof of vaccination & reveal private health information just to go about their daily lives." Following that tweet, he issued an Executive Order banning government-mandated vaccine passports in Texas.

HOW WILL IT WORK?

So how exactly is this going to work; will they go by the honor system? Or possibly the greeter will throw magnets at your arm, and if they stick, you get a free pass to walk around mask-free.

VAGUE PRESS RELEASE

The recent press release was a bit vague. Although they made it clear fully vaccinated guests and employees have the clear to be mask-free, Target also stated, "Face coverings continue to be strongly recommended for guests and team members who are not fully vaccinated." It seems as though they are not forcing masks on anyone; however, they strongly will recommend them for those who have not been vaccinated.

We are currently awaiting comment from Victoria Target.
