Tragic Crane Accident Leaves 1 Dead at this Texas Chemical Plant
A tragic accident left one worker dead at a Texas chemical plant.
LARGEST INDUSTRIAL EMPLOYER
Nestled inside Longview, Texas is Eastman Chemical Co. The chemical plant is the largest industrial employer in the area employing around 1,500 workers.
Joyce Crane is a crane service company with over 160 workers on its team. Some employees do contract work inside Eastman Chemical Co. in Longview.
CRANE SERVICES REQUIRE A TEAM
Crane services are extremely meticulous and planned. It takes a team to complete any job and operators, riggers, pipefitters, etc work with caution and absolute precision.
However, the Longview chemical plant experienced a complete tragedy early Monday morning. Harris County Sheriff's Office received a call informing them of a fatal accident involving a worker and a crane.
TRAGEDY AT THE TEXAS CHEMICAL PLANT
“Today, an employee of Joyce Crane was working at an Eastman site in Longview, Texas, when he was involved in a crane accident," Eastman Chemical Company released.
There were no details of the accident or names of the people involved, however, they informed the public, a worker had "died as a result of his injuries."
DISCOVERING A WORKER
HCSO deputies arrived shortly after they received the initial call and began documenting the scene, collecting statements from witnesses. Deputies located the body of a deceased worker involved in the crane accident.
OSHA and HSCO are investigating the accident. The chemical plant expressed its condolences, "We are deeply saddened by this loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time."
