A twisted Texas man traveled to Indianapolis to stalk and threaten basketball star, Caitlin Clark.

55-year-old Michael Thomas Lewis from Denton, Texas began sending sexually violent messages to Clark on X. Lewis started taunting Clark sending messages like, “Been driving around your house 3x a day,” followed by, “But don’t call the law just yet.”

Lewis would let Clark know he was going to travel to her games and would message her that he was getting tickets and where he was, “I’m sitting behind the bench," one of the messages read.

Clark became fearful and started to alter her appearance when she would step out in public. Clark's fears escalated when she learned that her stalker had traveled from Texas to Indianapolis.

Police became involved and were able to track Lewis down. When he was approached by police, Lewis was asked about his posts about Clark online. However, Lewis immediately tried to downplay what he was doing and said he made the posts for the "same reason everybody makes posts."

Lewis doubled down and defended the messages he sent to Clark. He described his infatuation with the basketball star as "an imagination," a “fantasy-type thing” and “a joke.”

When asked about it, Lewis claims they were not meant to be threatening even though they were clearly sexually violent.

“It takes a lot of courage for women to come forward in these cases," said Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears. “In doing so, the victim is setting an example for all women who deserve to live and work in Indy without the threat of sexual violence.”
