26 Year Old Man with Guns Threatens to Kill People in TX Church
DEAD DOG AND SHELL CASINGS
Fort Worth Police were called to Jefferson Unitarian Church on Wednesday, Aug. 23, around 11 a.m. When officers arrived, they were led to the church's outdoor garden area, where they would find a dead dog. Next to the animal, police found a rifle and shell casings scattered around.
A SECOND 9-1-1 CALL
Later that same day, a 9-1-1 call was made about a man inside the same Unitarian church who was holding a shotgun and making threatening statements about killing people.
STARLING WEAPONS FOUND ON COLLINS
Police quickly rushed to the church again and located the suspect. Holding a firearm, 26-year-old Roman Collins was immediately detained. As officers searched Collins they found multiple startling items.
Collins had various weapons including a shotgun, handgun, and several loaded magazines. large fixed blade-style knife, medical equipment, and a water canteen.
Police also discovered Collins had a rifle modified to accept handgun magazines inside of his truck.
CALLING IN SWAT
The severity of the danger Collins possibly posed, the Fort Worth Fire Department Arson/Bomb Unit was called in to complete a security sweep. They inspected the inside of the church, courtyard, and Collin's vehicle for explosive devices. Meanwhile. the Fort Worth Police Department SWAT unit obtained a search warrant for Collin's home.
BOOKED AND CHARGED
Roman Collins was arrested and booked into the Fort Worth City Jail and faces charges of terroristic threat, cruelty to a non-livestock animal, and placing weapons prohibited.
