Texas Road Rage Violent Incidents Spike Over the Years

Road rage is a serious problem in America and Texas is not immune to it. The state of Texas has one of the highest rates of violent road rage incidents in the country.

The soaring rise of violence on the roads is shown in an analysis by The Trace. In 2014, a person was shot in a road rage incident once every four days; fast forward to 2023, where a person is shot at in a road rage incident once every 18 hours.

One of the more startling cases in Texas was when a 16-year-old teen boy was shot in North Texas during a fit of road rage. Police say the teen, who had recently gotten his license, may have accidentally cut off the driver in a white SUV.

AGGRESSIVE DRIVING TAKES A TERRIFYING TURN

That led the driver of the SUV to drive recklessly and aggressively tailgating the teen. Suddenly, the 16-year-old heard multiple gunshots, "He moved to the right and that's when he just started shooting and everything,” the teen said.

Just a couple of minutes after the attack, the teen noticed something shocking, "I touched my shirt and it's all full of blood and I was like, 'Oh I think I might have got shot,'" the teen boy said.

The teen was shot once and doctors have decided to not remove the bullet, for now. The shooter has not been identified and is still on the run.

TEXAS VIOLENT ROAD RAGE

Houston is reported to be the city with the most gun-involved road rage incidents and shooting victims. Between 2014 and 2023, Houston clocked 214 incidents with 206 people killed or wounded.
