The horrific crimes of a Dallas County woman have left the country in shock. A 33-year-old woman has just been found guilty of sex trafficking her 14-year-old stepdaughter.
Karen Goana Villegas was convicted after evidence showed she arranged for adult men to engage in sexual acts with her stepdaughter in exchange for money. The deeply disturbing case involved repeated abuse and manipulation by someone who was supposed to protect the child.
“These cases are complex and deeply traumatic," District Attorney John Creuzot said.
According to the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, Villegas actively facilitated the trafficking by coordinating meetings and driving the child to meet with the men involved. Authorities began uncovering the abuse after the victim's younger brother alerted his school counselor about the abuse.

Prosecutors revealed that Villegas trafficked her 14-year-old stepdaughter over several years in exchange for money and drugs. She would even drive the young girl to various homes of men waiting to assault her. Villegas also opened up her home to men letting them abuse the young victim.
Jurors returned a guilty verdict on multiple charges, including human trafficking of a minor for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
“This case shows the impact of having experienced prosecutors, investigators, and victim advocates working together. I commend our entire team for their commitment and professionalism in pursuing justice in such a difficult case,” Creuzot added in a statement.
