Drivers Face Risks As Flash Flooding Hits Texas Roads
The City of Victoria is urging all residents to use extreme caution on the roads today as heavy rainfall continues across the region. Several major streets are now closed due to high water, and conditions may worsen as more storms roll through.
“Turn Around, Don’t Drown”
A handful of roads were shut down this morning from Navarro to Red River and places in between. However, that didn't stop people from passing through risky waters anyway.
Flash flooding can make other roads impassable with little to no warning. Come on y'all, we hear it all season long, if you see water over the road, don’t take the risk: turn around and don’t drown.
A Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. for Victoria County and surrounding areas, according to the National Weather Service.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for real-time road closure alerts at www.victoriatx.gov/alertcenter. For more local weather tools and safety resources, visit www.victoriatx.gov/weather.
