Texas Woman Shoots Suspicious Man in Face and Chest
A Texas woman took matters into her own hands on Friday night when an armed man allegedly tried to break into her home, shooting him in the face and chest.
The incident unfolded around 7:54 p.m. when the woman, noticing a strange man with a pistol in her backyard, quickly dialed 911. As she frantically spoke to dispatch, the man, identified as 35-year-old Octavio Flores Mondragon, reportedly attempted to force his way in through the garage door. Neighbors also called police, reporting gunshots echoing through the neighborhood.
OFFICERS RACE TO THE SCENE
Officers got to the house in just three minutes. They found the woman outside, scared but safe. She told them she had shot at the man, who was still in the garage. When police went inside, they found Mondragon badly hurt with gunshot wounds to his chest and face. His pistol was on the ground next to him.
TEXAS WOMAN NOTICES SOMETHING SUSPICIOUS
The woman said she first noticed a dark truck following her after she left a nearby Taco Bell. The truck followed her to her house and parked right behind her car in the driveway. Scared, she ran inside, grabbed her pistol, and got ready. When Mondragon tried to get in, she fired several times, hitting him twice.
SUSPECT CAPTURED AND CHARGED
Mondragon has been charged with first-degree burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony.
