A family dispute turned deadly in North Texas, leading to gun shots and a dramatic police chase. Now, a man sits behind bars, accused of ending his sister’s life in a violent confrontation.
A Family Tragedy Turns Deadly
Deputies got a call about a shooting on in the Bonita Point area near Gun Barrel City. When deputies arrived, they found 30-year-old Samantha Moore with gunshot wounds. She was taken to the hospital but ultimately did not survive.
According to authorities, John Clague, Moore's brother, shot her and then ran from the scene.
The Wild Chase to Find Him
Investigators later found out that Clague had been dropped off at a home in the Harbor Point area. When deputies arrived, a woman named Vicki Fletcher told them Clague was hiding in a travel trailer on the property.
The Henderson County Tactical Team tried to call out to Clague, but he didn’t respond. As deputies searched the area, Clague tried to run. That’s when a police K9, named Kan, was released to stop him. Clague was caught, treated for minor injuries, and taken to jail.
A Suspicious Move Leads to Another Arrest
While talking to Fletcher, deputies noticed her tossing something into a ditch. When they checked, they found suspected meth. Fletcher was arrested for drug possession and tampering with evidence.
Locked Up With a Huge Bond
Clague is being held at the Henderson County Jail with a bond set at $2 million. Fletcher’s bond was set at $50,000.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the case.
