An El Campo family is counting all their blessings right before Thanksgiving after going through an incredibly tragic time.

LIVES CHANGED IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE

Kendall and Chase Macek were outside grilling on September 24, 2022, just moments before their lives would change. In the blink of an eye, their youngest son Ripp had gone from playing to running off somewhere else.

Nearby, an older son of the Maceks was driving around a tractor. Suddenly, the older son comes running up with Ripp in his arms. In a terrifying accident, Ripp had been run over by the tractor his brother was driving.

“I’ll never forget that cry," said his mother Kendall.

THE RUSH TO RECOVERY

Ripp was rushed to the local El Campo hospital and quickly life-flighted to Memorial Hermann. He was rushed into the Pediatric ICU where they discovered multiple severe injuries.

Ripp had suffered a temporal and base skull fracture with a small brain bleed. He was given blood transfusions, put on a ventilator, and given a feeding tube, among other components to help save his life.

BACK AT HOME

Ripp never backed down from the fight and now, his family is excited and thankful to be back home after an excruciating few weeks of recovery. “In my mind, I knew he was coming home," said his father, Chase.

Ripp had to relearn many things during his recovery. He's had to start over and relearn the simple things like how to eat, crawl, and walk. This young Texas boy is an inspiration with an entire village behind him.
