Unusual Traffic Stop Sends Drunk Texas Doctor To Jail
A Texas physician was arrested after he was found intoxicated, parked in the middle of an intersection eating from a Tupperware.
TEXAS PHYSICIAN ARRESTED
The Texas Medical Board suspended Round Rock physician, Willard Hames Davis, D.O. after a scandalous arrest was made a few weeks ago. While working at St. Davis Georgetown Hospital, Davis allegedly was working his shifts while he was intoxicated.
PRIOR EMPLOYER TERMINATES TIES
The Texas Medical Board investigated the situation and said they found evidence that Davis worked at the facility while he was intoxicated. There was also evidence that Davis engaged in inappropriate behavior with a patient and left the emergency department unattended for extended periods of time at the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
911 CALL COMES IN ABOUT DAVIS
The severity of Davis' situation was at an all-time high when 9-1-1 received a startling call around 4:30 a.m. The caller explains that there is a man asleep at the wheel in the middle of an intersection.
Police were quickly sent out to investigate and upon arrival they discovered Davis at the wheel, eating food from a Tupperware container. Court records reveal police said Davis was, "unaware that his vehicle was parked in the middle of this intersection while he was eating his food."
FAILING A SOBRIETY TEST
Davis admitted to police that he had been drinking that night and had at least three drinks prior. Police administered a sobriety test, which Davis failed, and was arrested after.
While police were transporting the Texas physician to jail, he became incredibly hostile. He began to scream profanities and threatened to assault the arresting officer.
Davis is charged with driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor, and obstruction and retaliation, a third-degree felony.
