Victoria College Kid College Camps

If you're a mom like me who is always looking for fun and educational activities for my older kids to participate in the Crossroads, you'll be glad to note that Victoria College's famous "Kid College" summer camps have returned for summer 2021.

According to the Victoria College website for Kids College Camps, which you can read in its entirety here, three camps will be offered this summer.

One camp will be offered virtually, one face to face, and one at VC Gonzales.

My children have always enjoyed attending the camps during the summer and I enjoy knowing they are getting camps designed specifically with education in mind.

A virtual Junior Naturalist Camp will be conducted by the Texas Master Naturalist Mid-Coast Chapter and will be offered June 21-24 for ages 6-12. While “The Wild Outside” will be held at 10-11 a.m. for ages 6-8 and at 1-2 p.m. for ages 9-12.

Live instruction will be held via Webex video conferencing. Registration for the camp is $15 and includes a take-home kit containing necessary supplies as well as the link to access the live instruction at home.

A face-to-face “Level Up: Game Design” camp for children in grades 3-8 will be conducted by SimplyCoding on June 21-24 at the Emerging Technology Complex. Children in grades 3-5 will meet from 9 to 11 a.m., while children in grades 6-8 will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost for the “Level Up: Game Design” camp is $100.

Victoria College’s Gonzales Center will host its “Kids College” program on July 12-15 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The cost is $100.  The Kids College at the Gonzales Center will include arts and craft activities.

Each day of camp offers something new.

Each day of camp offers new and exciting ways to both entertain and educate your children. To be honest, if they offered a basic coding class for someone let's say who is turning almost 50, I know a "friend" who would take that summer camp at VC in a heartbeat!

Here is where to call and where to register.

Have fun!

LOOK: Here are the biggest HBCUs in America

More than 100 historically Black colleges and universities are designated by the U.S. Department of Education, meeting the definition of a school "established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of black Americans."

StudySoup compiled the 20 largest historically Black colleges and universities in the nation, based on 2021 data from the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics. Each HBCU on this list is a four-year institution, and the schools are ranked by the total student enrollment.
