Free Mosquito Dunks Available at Riverside Park
The mosquitos are back with a vengeance but so is Victoria Parks & Recreation.
After weeks of heavy rain and humid weather, the City is resuming its mosquito spraying program starting Thursday, aiming to cover all 18 zones in Victoria. Crews will begin with the south and central parts of the city, then continue citywide over about 10 days, depending on the weather.
Mosquito Spraying Schedule
Spraying originally began June 9 after the Memorial Day rain. But crews only made it through 3 of 18 zones before more storms hit, forcing a delay. Now that the rain has cleared, the full spray plan is back in motion.

WHAT RESIDENTS CAN DO:
Mosquito control is a team effort. Parks & Recreation can’t treat private property, so residents are asked to:
- Dump or treat standing water (buckets, birdbaths, planters, etc.)
- Use mosquito dunks (available free from Parks & Rec Office)
- Keep grass cut
- Clean gutters to avoid water buildup
- Change water often in birdbaths, kiddie pools, dog bowls, etc.
FREE MOSQUITO DUNKS
One free mosquito dunk per household is available at the Parks & Recreation office in Riverside Park.
The City of Victoria explains why using a dunk is so beneficial,
"The mosquito dunks, which dissolve in water, contain a type of bacteria that kills mosquito larvae. The dunks are not toxic to fish or other animals."
REPORT A PROBLEM
Use the Victoria Texas 311 app or go to victoriatx.gov → “Report a Concern.” Parks & Recreation uses your reports to identify priority spray areas, so don’t hesitate to speak up.
