Are public school students as smart as kids in other countries? How about right here in Victoria? When a couple of our very own students from Victoria West High School win an engineering competition, it says a lot. In fact, students from Victoria West won both first and second place in the SPARK A&M Engineering Competition earlier this month.

The students, who had been working on a hydraulic arm that uses syringes and water, had to be able to complete 3 tasks including moving a sand-filled can over a 20 centimeter wall, placing a ping pong ball into a cup, and stacking blocks made of wood.

The students used K'Nex pieces to build the claw, they developed a motor holder using a  3D printer, and also used pieces from Textrix Robotics.
