"Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to be a policeman."

I've had the honor of meeting several police officers throughout the years at various fundraisers and ya a few traffic stops too. When I've had the opportunity to interview them, one thing they've all had in common was an early interest in law enforcement. "Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to be a policeman," is a common thread among those that choose to protect and serve.

If your child is interested in law enforcement, the Victoria PD has a camp just for them!

In fact, if your child is interested in law enforcement or you're a steward of backing the blue, creating a new narrative than what we often see in the media, this is definitely the camp for them.

It's the Victoria Police Department Summer Camp and registration is open now.

Our Victoria Police Department will host their Victoria Police Youth Camp on July 26 through July 29 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The camp is open for kids between the ages of 10 and 14. Registration is open right now and the cost of the camp is $60.00

What will my kid be doing at this camp?

According to an article in Crossroads Today, at this year’s camp, "Victoria Police Officers will instruct classes that include lectures, role-playing, and demonstrations in the areas of patrol unit familiarity, building clearing, CPR, K-9 Units, handcuffing, traffic stops and experiencing the new virtual reality equipment."

One of the longest-running digs in the studios here at Townsquare Media is the Officer Brogger trading card dig. If you are not familiar, every law enforcement officer at our VPD has a trading card. Whenever there is a disagreement on who is right, often the original Officer Brogger trading card is pulled out to trump all opinion. Whoever has the Brogger card in hand, rules supreme!!!
