A Giant Python Takes Over A Block Party In Garland Texas
“It was just crazy, just crazy," is exactly the way a witness described the chaotic scene in a quiet Texas neighborhood.
Garland, Texas was surprised after an unexpected guest slithered into a block party. The guest in question? A 15-foot-long python.
According to the City of Garland’s official social media post, the reticulated python was spotted slithering through a neighborhood yard, eventually circling a truck and trapping a man on top of it.
Yes, on top of his truck, which is exactly what I would have done too.
FOX4 Dallas reports that the snake even made its way under the hood and into the engine bay, adding a terrifying twist to the story.
“It was just crazy, just crazy,” said Lilly Diaz, who witnessed the chaos unfold.
Animal control officers responded quickly and, not surprisingly, the snake wasn’t too thrilled about being evicted. The python reportedly lunged at officers as they tried to wrangle it.
Using a rope and some serious courage, officials were finally able to extract the giant snake from the truck. Once free, they tossed a blanket over its head and guided it into a containment box. Despite the wild encounter, no one was injured—including the python.
Reticulated pythons, which can grow to over 16 feet long, are native to Southeast Asia and not typically found slinking around Texas neighborhoods. How it got there remains a mystery.
So next time you hear a noise in your driveway? Maybe bring a friend, just in case it’s a 15-foot snake under your hood.
