Abbott gave an interview to WBAP during which he outlined plans to have businesses like salons and restaurants reopened in the early days of May according to KTXS.com.

Last week the Governor gave the order to reopen Texas State Parks, loosen restrictions on select non-essential surgeries, and gave the green light to 'retail-to-go'. We will get the next round of updates next week.

Governor Greg Abbott said, "This is going to be happening during the first couple of days in May where you're going to be able to go back and go dining, under safe standards, you're going to be able to get a haircut, you're going to be able to go to hair salons, you're going to be able to do things that people have long been wanting to do, but we're going to be sure there are safety standards in place so that you will be able to do that without spreading the coronavirus."

In Victoria, we are still seeing new and active cases of COVID-19 and it is likely the virus will keep popping up throughout the state for the better part of the next few months at least. If you feel a little uneasy about hearing plans to reopen the state when in the same conversation you are hearing about new COVID-19 cases and even new deaths related to the virus, you are not alone.
