Texans Helping Texans

In their latest efforts to help slow the spread of COVID-19, essential business, H-E-B  Food/Drug Store, has recommended that families, when applicable, designate one family member per household to shop, throughout their 390 stores located in Texas and Mexico.

HEB had already implemented strict social distancing protocols such as limiting the number of individuals inside some stores at one time, as well as placing floor decals on the ground to designate where people should stand while in line and making some aisles one way. H-E-B has designated teams of Partners and COVID Action Managers to keep social distancing practiced throughout the aisles as well as implementing customer to cashier partitions all in an effort to better protect customers and Partners.

In an interview hosted by CBS Austin anchor, Walt Maciborski, HEB President Scott McClelland is candid when asking that anyone who can shop alone without extra family members please do so at this time.

"One of the things we found is that since the stay at home orders have started, many of our customers view going to the grocery store as an outing," McClelland said. "But really when we talk about stay-at-home, we really need people to stay-at-home and send 'a' person to the store. Now, of course if you're a single mom you're going to need to take your kids with you we understand that, but in general the fewer people that we have our store shopping the better off we are." Scott says.

H-E-B's official website offers additionally, "As Texans helping Texans, H-E-B is always deeply committed to protecting the health and safety of our customers and Partners. Right now, that mission is of the utmost importance."

Be forewarned, there is fake news floating around on social media sites stating H-E-B isn't allowing anyone under the age of 18 to enter the store. That is false.

Also mothers with children who are without childcare are of course still welcome to shop alongside their children.
