Putting families in touch with resources to help stay healthy is the motivation behind the Healthy Families, Healthy Communities Expo which happens Saturday, June 11th from 9am to 1pm at Liberty Academy.

Texas A&M's Agrilife Extension and Health Science Center has teamed up with Healthy South Texas to put on the expo, which will offer free diabetes screenings and information, and other services. The first 300 attendees will also receive a free package of diapers. Officials say the event is important for new and pregnant mothers. Free child care at the event is also available.

Lots of other events will take place, including raffles for baby supplies like cribs and car seats.

Liberty Academy is located at 1110 Sam Houston Drive.
