"We are the #1 school in Texas for least vaccination."

A tone-deaf Texas pastor is catching heat online after celebrating an accomplishment that has negatively affected hundreds of children across the state.

Landon Schott is a pastor at Mercy Culture and an advocate for the anti-vax movement. A video posted by Schott on March 6, 2025, showed an excited pastor breaking news of an accomplishment at Mercy Culture Preparatory, a private school associated with the church.

"I just wanna shout out to MC Prep for being the least vaccinated school in Texas," Schott happily announced to his 45,000 Instagram followers.

The Texas pastor continuously praised the community at MC Preparatory for their decision to not vaccinate their children. Schott briefly acknowledged news outlets for shining their accomplishment in a negative light but brushed it off.

"I just wanna congratulate all the family members in MC prep who embrace freedom of health and they're not allowing government or science projects to affect how you live and lead your life," Schott continued.

Many people online quickly flocked to the comment section to point out the blatantly obvious bad timing. Nearly 200 cases of measles have been confirmed in Texas, with the majority being school-aged unvaccinated children.

One brutal comment reads:

"I see why he’s so excited. Child funerals must be lucrative business for a pastor."

Another read, "Awesome. Bring on Polio. I hear that’s a fun one."

A more gentle comment says, "That’s not something to be proud of. Wouldn’t God want you to take every precaution to keep your kids healthy? Just no, this isn’t the flex y’all think it is!"

Last month, an unvaccinated school-aged child died from the illness, which is the first measles-related death in the US in a decade.

The Texas Department of State Health Services provides advice and statistics about measles and recommends vaccinations, "The best way to prevent getting sick is to be immunized with two doses of a vaccine against measles," the state site reads.
