The 911 Tower Climb is coming to Victoria.

In an effort to remember our fallen firefighters and emergency responders during 911 as well as showing support for those who risk their lives today, Victorians are honoring them by committing to climbing stairs at Memorial Stadium soon.

According to Crossroads Today, the 911 Tower Climb, usually held in San Antonio each year has had to make adjustments for COVID-19 and now several cities throughout Texas will host their own version, such as Victoria, Texas.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation hosts the annual event throughout America and according to their website, " Each participant pays tribute to an FDNY firefighter by climbing or walking the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. Your individual tribute not only remembers the sacrifice of an FDNY brother, but symbolically completes their heroic journey to save others. Through firefighter and community participation we can ensure that each of the 343 firefighters is honored and that the world knows that we will never forget. The proceeds of these events help the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation create and maintain programs that support fire service survivors. Your support of the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb events provides assistance to the surviving families and co-workers of the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001."

So far we know that the Victoria climb will be held at Memorial Stadium this year and we will keep you up to date with details. Joel Gomez, Goliad Paramedic EMS, is coordinating this event and we look forward to hearing more from him soon.

If you're not able to climb, we've got a link to donate to the NFFA here.
