A Wild Police Chase In The Tyler Area Ends With Cops Finding A Lot Of Meth.

We received details from the Smith County Sheriff's Office today about a wild situation that went down on Tuesday in Northern Smith County where 3 people were arrested and one of them got into a high speed chase with cops.

A Smith County Pct. 5 Deputy Constable attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling southbound on US 271 North in Smith County.

According to the press release from Smith County, the vehicle failed to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. A pursuit was initiated on the vehicle as the driver continued to evade law enforcement at excessive rates of speed.

The driver pulled into the parking lot of the Texas Best Smokehouse on Hwy 271 at I-20, dropping off a female passenger, before evading once again southbound on Hwy 271. The driver eventually turned around, traveling northbound and eventually turned back into the Texas Best Smokehouse parking lot.

The driver of the vehicle then exited and fled on foot into a wooded area adjacent to the parking lot and, shortly thereafter, was taken into custody.

The Driver Was Identified As 44-Year-Old Jacob Edward Kovarik.

Jacob Kovarik was found to have an outstanding Parole Violation Warrant. Kovarik was arrested and charged with the warrant as well as the on-site charges of Evading Arrest/Detention w/Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B <1G.

48-Year-Old Brandy Yvette Rucker & 31-Year-Old Brandy Havard Franklin.

While the pursuit continued, a Smith County Sheriff’s K9 Deputy was able to detain the female who exited the vehicle and identified her as Brandy Franklin and detained another woman as she was attempting to assist the other who was identified as Brandy Rucker.

Both of these individuals were standing next to a pickup with an open door and what police found inside was not good at all.

A subsequent search revealed a total of 92.6 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and multiple clear baggies.

The evidence recovered is indicative of the manufacture and/or selling of illicit narcotics according to police. The following agencies also assisted in the capture of these felons: Smith County Pct. 4 Constables Office, Smith County Pct. 1 Constables Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Brandy Havard Franklin was charged with Manufacture and or Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B >4G <200G. Brandy Yvette Rucker was charged with Manufacture and or Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B >4G <200G.
