Katy Perry Is One of Barbara Walters’ Most Fascinating People of 2011
Katy Perry has made the cut as one of Barbara Walters’ Most Fascinating People of the Year. The ‘Teenage Dream’ singer will sit down with the legendary broadcaster for an interview to air on Dec. 14 at 9:30PM ET.
Perry made history in 2011 by becoming just the second artist, after Michael Jackson, to score five No. 1 singles from one album, when ‘E.T.’ and ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’ joined her 2010 chart-toppers ‘California Gurls,’ ‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘Firework.’ By the time the interview airs, Perry may have earned herself a history-making sixth No. 1, as ‘The One That Got Away’ moves up to No. 9 on this week’s chart.
Walters is sure to have a lot to ask Katy about, including how the singer has dealt with the occasional disapproval of her conservative parents, as well as her marriage to outspoken comedian Russell Brand.
Nine of the 10 individuals on Walters’ Most Fascinating People list for 2011 have been revealed, with the top choice to remain a secret until the show airs. No other singers appear on the list, but Simon Cowell of ‘X Factor‘ is one of the selections, along with Donald Trump, Derek Jeter and the Kardashian Family.
Justin Bieber and Jennifer Lopez were among Barbara’s picks last year, while Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert appeared on the 2009 list.
