What kids doesn't love a shiny new toy? How about a shiny new park?  Well, the dreams of the kids here in the Crossroads have come true.

This past Friday (December 2, 2022), officials from the City of Victoria and Parks & Recreation along with a crowd of Victorians came out to Ted B. Reed Park (2101 Salem Rd)  to launch a new play structure.

The play structure features ares of equipment for both older kids and young tikes. The featured item is a new glider swing.  There's a walking trail to get to the two area and it is, wheelchair-accessible.

For the park it was definitely time for a change, the now-former equipment was there for 25 years!  And, they replacement parts are unavailable due to age. The new part will be easier for park maintenence.

Director of the City of Victoria Parks & Recreation,Jason Alfaro said a the short ceremony to open the new part of park it is all part of the City of Victoria's master plan.

“From the master planning process, we learned that Ted B. Reed Park is the third most visited park in the City,” Alfaro said. “We wanted to give it some love.”

Up next for Parks & Recreation,  the replacement of a play area at the Children’s Park in Riverside Park.   Get ready for more new equipment for the kids!

So, now it's time to play! Check out the new addition! Ted B. Reed Park (2101 Salem Rd) is open every day from 6am to 11pm to enjoy the outdoors in Victoria! Yeah!
