Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine Trial for Kids Coming to Port Lavaca
Moderna is moving to the next phase in their new vaccine trial called KidCOVE. As reported by ABC-13 in Houston, The study being conducted by Moderna will enroll 6,750 kids from 6 months to under 12-years-old and Port Lavaca has been selected as one of the testing sites. Port Lavaca is one of three testing sites in Texas, the other two places are Houston and Tomball.
The initial phase of the Moderna trial administered two doses of the Moderna vaccine. Phase two, which will include children enrolled in Port Lavaca will have a different approach. Half will get the vaccine and the other half will get a placebo. Most doctors say parents aren't worried about the safety of the vaccine, just the benefits it could have for their kids as reported by ABC-13. WATCH STORY BELOW.
Here is what you can expect if your child takes part in the study:
Your child will receive two injections in 28 days. You will be asked to return back to the testing site at least 6 times You will have to log any COVID-19 like symptoms via an app on your phone and your child will be closely monitored by doctors for 12 months.
