Second Grader in Texas Discovers a Loaded Gun Inside Backpack
A student shared startling news with a Texas teacher who quickly notified campus administrators and peace officers as fast as possible.
A charter school in North Richland Hills was dealing with a startling incident after a second grader approached their teacher to share something.
YOUNG STUDENT NOTIFIES TEACHER ABOUT AN ALARMING DISCOVERY
According to a statement from the school, International Leadership of Texas North Richland Hills K-8, a young second-grader informed the teacher that they believed there was a gun inside of their backpack.
The teacher immediately told campus administrators and the campus peace officer, the school said. When the school officers arrived, they searched the student's backpack. Inside the backpack was a gun with one bullet loaded into the chamber.
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?
The student said that the gun was placed inside of the backpack by their parent. Police are currently investigating the situation.
Gun violence is still an issue in the country. Although school gun violence has gone down this year, there are still big concerns.
According to a report by Statista, there have been "58 incidents of school shootings were recorded in the United States in 2024, impacting K-12 school grounds and college campuses nationwide."
