Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Victoria County
Showers and strong thunderstorms could disrupt some Friday evening plans in the Crossroads as the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 11 p.m. for Bee, Goliad, Live Oak, and Victoria County.
The main threats with this storm will be damaging winds and hail. This system of storms passing through South Texas tonight does include a slight risk for a tornado.
Around 9 p.m. this evening, the National Weather Service radar reported a line of strong thunderstorms had developed from Beeville to Shiner, and was moving East/Southeast at around 30 mph. These storms will pass right over Victoria, Port Lavaca, Seadrift, Goliad, Refugio, Cuero, Yoakum, and the surrounding area. This is a large storm with heavy rains that will impact travel. Please drive carefully.
In addition to the rain and winds, we are also seeing some areas of fog developing this evening so be very careful if you need to travel while the storms are still in our area. We should see most of the activity end around 11 p.m. this evening.
Storms tonight are expected to be scattered and numerous throughout the next couple of hours.
