Texas K9 Sniffs Out $600,000 Worth of Cocaine in Traffic Stop

San Antonio officers were patrolling around town when they noticed a bright blue Honda committed a traffic violation, according to a statement from their social media page.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

46 -year-old Enrique Villegas was pulled over by a K-9 unit in San Antonio. Officers approached the vehicle and began speaking with Villegas. During their conversation, officers began to notice Villegas was acting suspiciously.

Officers then went to their patrol unit and released K9 Maximus to assist with an investigation. Maximus did his rounds around the vehicle and promptly notified officers of something he found.

K9 UNIT WORKING HARD

K9 Maximus alerted officers at the scene of drugs inside Villegas's vehicle. With the help of K9 Maximus and the Gange Unit, 5 kilograms of cocaine were found inside the vehicle. The drugs were confiscated and totaled a street value of $400,000.

Deputies arrested Enrique Villegas and he was charged with possession with intent to Distribute 5 kilograms or more of a mixture or substance containing cocaine.

The more drugs are taken off the streets, the better. Texas is no stranger to drug busts; just last month $600,000 worth of cocaine was hidden inside truck tires while traveling into Texas. Border patrol confiscated 38 packages containing 87 pounds of cocaine from Freightliner trailer tires at a Mexico/Texas border.

Tires are not too uncommon when it comes to hiding narcotics. However, there definitely have been some pretty unique places smugglers have tried to hide drugs. For instance, the Texas border patrol seized 615 pounds of methamphetamine disguised as cleaning supplies.
