There’s a new viral trend sweeping across TikTok that’s already made its way into Texas neighborhoods, and law enforcement says it’s not just reckless, it’s potentially deadly.

Dubbed the “Door-Kicking Challenge” or the “Who’s That Knocking Challenge,” the trend involves teens or young adults running up to random houses, kicking the front door as hard as they can, usually in the middle of the night, and then running off while filming it all for social media clout

The videos are often set to loud, dramatic music or jump-scare sound effects to enhance the shock factor. This is like ding-dong-ditch but much more aggressive and dangerous.

Kids are taking it too far.

But what seems like a harmless prank could turn tragic, especially in a state like Texas, where the “castle doctrine” allows homeowners to use force if they perceive a threat.

According to the Fort Worth Police Department, this trend has already made its way to Texas.

'This trend has been reported across the country, including right here in Texas,' the Fort Worth PD said.

It's not just a harmless prank; the department emphasized the repercussions and charges that could be made from this one prank. "It is imperative that individuals partaking in this trend understand that even if no burglary or theft occurs, this behavior is illegal and considered vandalism and can lead to criminal charges."

Even more dangerous, a homeowner could mistake the prank for a threatening home invasion and act accordingly to protect their home.

“More critically, it can be mistaken as an attempted break-in, potentially prompting dangerous or defensive responses from homeowners,” Fort Worth PD warned in a public statement.

Police departments are urging parents to speak with their teens about the serious risks involved. Not only is the prank illegal, but it’s putting kids in real danger of being harmed or arrested.

While some may laugh it off as another TikTok phase, law enforcement hopes this trend fizzles out before it escalates into something far more tragic, because in Texas, kicking down a stranger’s door isn’t just a prank; it could be a fatal mistake.
