Texas Superintendent Caught Soliciting Sex to 15-Year-Old Girl
Police catch a Texas school superintendent soliciting sex to a 15-year-old Houston girl.
TALKING TO AN UNDERCOVER OFFICER
47-year-old, Michael Stevens began talking to a 15-year-old girl from Houston, Texas. Stevens, the superintendent of a North Texas school district near Dallas, was unaware the young girl he was messaging online was a trained officer who was conducting a sting operation.
SENDING AND REQUESTING EXPLICIT PHOTOS
According to officials, Stevens began chatting online with the young girl and the conversation spiraled into more than just casual conversation. Investigators discovered Stevens had sent explicit photos to the girl and requested nude photos in return. They say Stevens was planning a trip to Houston as well.
1 IN 7 MEN CAUGHT IN STING OPERATION
Investigators reveal the North Texas superintendent was just 1 out of 7 men in the sting operation who were caught and charged with online solicitation of a minor.
"THIS SHOULD SCARE PARENTS"
Harris County Constable, Alan Rosen said they are continuing to investigate "to determine if other children have been solicited by these individuals." He added, "This should scare parents, this should put things into perspective about how dangerous things can be when you're not paying attention..."
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES SUSPENDS STEVENS
The Board of Trustees released a statement in response to the arrest of Superintendent Micheal Stevens. They decided to suspend Stevens from his role as Superintendent of Schools and added they are "working diligently to resolve this situation in accordance with legal counsel."
The Board expressed that they are, "Confident that based on all facts known to date, there are no connections between the allegations made against Mr. Stevens and students at Itasca ISD."
