Victoria Sees Multiple Campus Threats in First Month Back
A new school year just started, and Victoria County deputies have already responded to two separate on-campus threats. Both situations ended with an arrest, no weapons found, giving everyone involved a clear reminder that there’s zero tolerance for any threats in the Victoria school district.
The First Threat at Victoria East High School
According to the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO), School Resource Officers (SROs) were alerted around 1:35 p.m. to a possible safety concern. A 16-year-old male student reportedly made a comment about building a bomb. Deputies investigated and determined no credible threat was made toward the campus or students.
The student was located and taken into custody for False Report to Induce Emergency Response and transported to the Victoria County Juvenile Detention Center. No weapons or explosive devices were located, and no injuries were reported.
Most recent Threat at Cade Middle School
At about 11:00 a.m., SROs were notified after an 11-year-old male student allegedly claimed to have a weapon. After a thorough search, deputies found no weapon.
The student was located and arrested for False Report to Induce Emergency Response. No injuries were reported.
Standing Firm on a Zero Tolerance Policy
VCSO continues to stand firm and is taking no chances while maintaining a zero-tolerance policy toward any threats against schools, staff, and students. Whether a threat comes in the form of verbal, written, or implied, it will not be tolerated.
The latest two incidents stress how quickly SROs move from report to response, and how “jokes,” rumors, or attention-seeking comments can turn into arrests and serious charges. Please talk to your children and let them know the seriousness of their actions.
