Victoria Independent School District plans to host it's first virtual graduation for the seniors of the class of 2020 on both the East and West campuses on May 29th and May 30th.

The following news release was posted on April 30th on the VISD website regarding the possibility of hosting the graduation virtually in the weeks ahead.

"Victoria ISD's administrative team has been working to plan arrangements for many milestones that typically occur at the end of a VISD student's senior year. We'll post updates to this page as more information becomes finalized.

We know that everyone wishes we could have an in-person graduation ceremony but we feel strongly that this rite of passage needs to happen on schedule as our students have many different plans after graduation. Due to the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic and public health recommendations that come with it, we are planning to hold a virtual graduation ceremony for each campus on May 29th and 30th that will include the regular speeches, pomp and circumstance. Seniors will be recognized using their senior photos and each child's name will be recognized.

We are working with the Victoria Television Group and Newscenter 25 to broadcast the virtual ceremonies, as well as provide them through various streaming platforms.

Graduation may be different, but our ability to personalize graduation will still make it a memorable one!

More details regarding the virtual graduation ceremonies will be shared as they become available. Without a doubt, these extraordinary times have prompted unprecedented but necessary changes in every aspect of our lives."

Congratulations to the Class of 2020! We hope through virtual graduation, you feel celebrated and we wish you all of the best!
