50 children in the Crossroads will be getting the rest they need for the upcoming school year, thanks to a program by Ashley Homestore that donates beds and accessories to those in need.

'A Hope To Dream' has been an annual campaign that's now in its 6th year, and the kids will receive mattresses, bases, sheets and comforter sets and pillows from Ashley Furniture and other local business donors.

The local organization CASA has nominated kids who don't have a bed to call their own, so they are currently sleeping on sofas, the floor, crowded beds or other uncomfortable situations. The giveaway takes place at First English Lutheran Church at 516 N. Main St. in Victoria Wednesday, July 31 from 6-8 pm. At that time, the beds will be set up in the church gym and the surprise will include not only the beds, bedding and pillows but also backpacks donated by DeTar Hospital Navarro with school supplies that come from business and family donations.

The program also has the help of volunteers who will bring trailers to help take the beds and supplies to the children's homes, and Victoria Generals players will also be on hand to give away game tickets, autograph baseballs, and play with the kids.

If you would like to volunteer to help with event set-up and cleanup or would like to donate school supplies or make a monetary donation, contact Mari Martinez at Ashley Homestore or email mmartinez@ashleyhomestoretx.com.
