It's already looking good for the Texas A&M University–Victoria softball team as they head into the new season.

The Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) released its 2026 preseason rankings on Tuesday, and the Jaguars were picked to finish fourth in the conference, that's not too shabby!

Even if you don’t follow college softball closely, that’s a solid spot, especially considering A&M–Victoria is coming off a 29–23 season in 2025 and just made its 10th appearance in the NAIA national tournament. The program has also had 18 straight winning seasons since it began in 2008, which is honestly kind of wild consistency.

The Jaguars were one of the better hitting teams in the RRAC last season, finishing near the top in home runs with 24.

A few key players are coming back this year, including Alyssa Carter, Fayth Hoover, and Daizie Fuentez, who really stood out late in the season. Fuentez, a Victoria native, had a big postseason run, including a game where she drove in three runs during a win over rival Texas A&M–San Antonio.

On the pitching side, Jocelyne Galvan  will return to the mound. The team also added two new pitchers: Haley Noska and Zoe Hardy,  to help strengthen the roster.

As for who’s expected to be the toughest in the conference, LSU Alexandria was picked to win it, with Texas A&M–Texarkana and Our Lady of the Lake ranked ahead of the Jaguars.

A&M–Victoria will kick off the season at home with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Huston–Tillotson on Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex.
