A teenager opening fire inside a Dallas high school hallway has left four students injured and a community shaken- again.

Seventeen-year-old Tracy Haynes Jr. has turned himself into authorities after a video surfaced showing him opening fire in the hallway of Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas, Texas.

The shooting sent students into panic, with many fleeing and taking cover as multiple shots rang out. According to officials, four students were injured:  three were shot, and one was hurt in the chaos.

Police say he was inside the building for just two minutes, he appeared to have a specific target, but also "fired indiscriminately into a group", according to a press release, sparking an investigation into potential gang ties.

Haynes turned himself into police just hours after the shooting.

Student Describes the Chaos

One described a chaotic scene:

“We heard four gunshots… then more. Saw a few students running, heard screams, and we had to take cover in the band room.”

How Did He Get In?

Officials say the shooter entered through a side door reportedly opened by another student. The school, which has 13 entrance points, will now have a security guard stationed at every door for the final 23 days of the school year.

A Community on Edge... Again

This marks the second shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High in just about a year.

The community is shaken, with one parent saying:

I’m glad this is my last child in school, and I won’t have to go through this no more.”

Students are expected to return to campus next Wednesday. The investigation remains ongoing.
