Father of 6 Horrifically Assassinated in Austin Texas
In an alleged drug-related dispute, a father of 6 was ambushed and brutally killed in Austin, Texas. Recently, 2 men have been sentenced for the murder.
THREE MEN DRIVE TO AN APARTMENT COMPLEX
Back in 2016, Guillermo Gomez was picked up at his apartment by 36-year-old Francisco Lopez Jr. Lopez and Gomez then drove to a nearby McDonalds to pick up a third guy, 47-year-old Evan Zanders.
The three men then drove to Bainbridge Village, an apartment complex in South Austin. According to police, Lopez admitted that the three men were on their way to purchase 2 ounces of meth.
A MEET-UP GONE WRONG
Surveillance video obtained from the area reveals a quick transaction. Around 12:37 a.m. the car the men were in was caught pulling into the apartment complex and leaving just six minutes later.
However, something went wrong for Gomez, who was shot and killed during the shortstop. According to a witness, Gomez had 'substantial drug debts and the cartel put a hit out on him.' Zanders also confirmed with detectives that it was a set-up and Lopez was ordered to kill Gomez.
Guillermo Gomez’s sister-in-law Amanda Rodriguez said. "I know he didn’t see this coming." Her heart breaks after discovering the brutal details of his death, "Just knowing that this is the last place that my brother took his last breath really hurts."
ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH MURDER
36-year-old Francisco Lopez Jr. and 47-year-old Evan Zanders were arrested for the murder. Zanders plead guilty to the charge in exchange for 36 years in prison. Lopez was convicted of murder and sentenced to 28 years in prison.

The father of six is remembered by his family, whose lives are forever changed:
"They are still hurt. They miss their father. They talk about him a lot. He's no longer here with us, so he misses out on football games, soccer games, volleyball games, basketball games, so it’s been a big loss for us for sure," Rodriguez said.
