Many of us were wondering what " we could do" to help our community and our neighbors over the last few weeks, but did you know you have had the ability to help out right in the palm of your hand for years.

We didn't know either!

After perusing the internet looking for the best ways to help our community help each other, we discovered that Facebook had launched their Nextdoor hub years ago in 2010 in an effort to bring neighbors together. The mission of Nextdoor is to " cultivate a kinder world where everyone has a neighborhood they can rely on."

We've had the ability to connect with our neighbors on the phone without making a single call! If you've got Facebook on your smart device, you've got the ability to activate Nextdoor.

Nextdoor is a hub which allows its users to develop communities and directly communicate and coordinate within those communities. Perhaps this is a good time to reach out to your neighbors to see if they'd like to join your community group via Facebook so you can all stay connected and in doing so create a peace of mind and more opportunity to help.

Scrolling through the Nextdoor Facebook feed, Nextdoor has been updating their format specifically to help guide and connect users during COVID-19 by recently including an interactive map to keep neighbors informed of their locations.

According to a report from The Guardian, "Nextdoor broke the social network mold."

Here is a blog by Hootsuite to guide you through using Facebook's neighborhood social network.
