Mysterious Twist of Events Leaves 1 Man Dead in Beaumont
It's been over a decade and there is still a murder case that mystifies anyone involved.
DEADLY BEAUMONT HOTEL
55-year-old Greg Fleniken checked into a Beaumont hotel room where he would stay for a week for work. Like clockwork, Greg and his wife, Susie, would call each other to say goodnight, however, Susie became concerned after not receiving an early morning call from her husband one night.
Susie continued to try and get a hold of her husband but was unsuccessful. She learned Greg had also not shown up to work and his coworkers were unable to locate him. However, Greg would soon be found.
ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE GREG
Greg's lifeless body was found inside his hotel room. At first, investigators believed he died from natural causes however, the medical examiner would discover something more disturbing.
Medical examiner Dr.Brown suggested Greg had gone through something seriously traumatic and was murdered. He had multiple broken ribs, his food was leaking from his intestines, and more importantly, he had a tiny hole in his heart.
NO SIGNS OF MALICIOUS INTENT
Investigators scoured through his hotel room but found very little. There were no signs of an attack, no blood, and evidence of anything malicious. However, months later the truth was discovered.
A NIGHT OF PARTYING
Two electricians had a room next to Greg in the hotel. During one night of partying one of the men began playing with their pistol when suddenly the gun unintentionally discharged.
THE INSANE TWIST
Investigators overlooked an incriminating piece of evidence that sealed the case. A tiny hole was discovered in Greg's hotel room wall, strangely the hole had been filled with toothpaste. After further examination, it was confirmed if a bullet was shot the hole was projected perfectly where Greg would have been sitting on the bed.
CASE CLOSED
The bullet had indeed gone through the wall and struck Greg, causing his untimely death. The owner of the gun ultimately Lance Mueller was charged with manslaughter and had to serve 10 years in prison.
