Frantic 8 Day Search For 12-Year-Old Houston Girl Ends
A frantic 8-day search for a missing 12-year-old girl from Houston has finally ended after she was found nearly 70 miles away from home.
CHILD RESCUED 70 MILES AWAY
The Houston Police Department announced her discovery in Columbus, Texas, over 70 miles from her Missouri City home, in what has been described as a harrowing escape from potential danger.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Sirterryon Preston from Houston, became the focus after Columbus police received a tip about the girl's possible whereabouts. As officers moved to apprehend Preston, he fled, setting off an intense chase that ended at a local Shell gas station.
SUSPECT FLED AFTER NOTICING POLICE
Preston, known to some in the area as a chip delivery man, was seen making a desperate attempt to evade capture, abandoning his delivery dolly and scanner in a panic. The chase was witnessed by locals and captured on video. Once apprehended, Preston was charged with evading arrest, and he now awaits further charges.
POSSIBLE TRAFFICKING SITUATION
The community had been on edge since the girl’s disappearance on February 23, when she was last seen getting into an unidentified truck, sparking fears she had fallen prey to a trafficking scheme. Her engagement on the adult dating app Tagged raised alarming concerns.
Thankfully the 12-year-old child was found however, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the dramatic chase created a startling situation.
