This Texas Seasoning Is The Spice of Life
An Ode to A Seasoning.
Just kidding. The secret I'm going to share with you is bigger and better than any poetry I could pen.
Instead, I'm going to share with you my number one cooking secret of- all- time.
I promise, if you try it, you will become a believer too. This I know to be true, just as roses are red and violets are... okay fine... it's a seasoning. And I put it on EVERYTHING.
People will ask me " What is in this quiche, fried chicken, chicken salad, bean and cheese taco?", the list goes on, and, I've never told them.
Until now.
OMG that's so much build-up for a spice blend! But wait... there is more. So much more.
18th Century English poet, William Cowper, famously wrote 'variety is the spice of life' in his thoughtful, albeit lengthy six-book poem, titled 'The Task'. Unfortunately for Cowper, it would be well over two hundred years after The Task was written that the Bolner family of San Antonio would create, drum roll please... Fiesta Fajita Seasoning!
Established in 1955, Fiesta spice and seasoning products were the brain-child of Clifton J. Bolner who worked for his grandfather in the grocery business as a young boy growing up. As per family tradition, the Bolner family runs their spice business together generations later and Bolner's Fiesta Brand is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. There they create fusions of flavors with dozens of seasonings and spices.
Which in my opinion is absolutely unnecessary because truly, Fiesta Fajita Seasoning is the greatest seasoning in the world.
Of course, poet William Cowper never had the opportunity to try it, but I promise you, if he had, he would have written, ' Fiesta Fajita Seasoning is THE spice of life' instead. Or maybe, 'Fiesta Fajita seasoning is the variety of life', because it goes on everything.
And by 'everything', I mean I use it on;
- Eggs, scrambled, fried and boiled
- Migas, Quiche, spinach and Swiss, bacon and Gruda, Ham and American
- Chicken, fried, baked, sauteed, fajita and chicken salad ( I'm actually pretty famous for my chicken salad and humble.. goodness gracious I am so humble about that)
- Hamburgers, Salisbury Steak, meatballs, tacos
- Steak, fajitas, shishkabobs
- Pork, fried and pulled
- Soup bases for hundreds of soup
The list goes on infinitely and, NO, I NEVER GET TIRED OF IT. Neither do my guests.
It's pretty safe to say that if what you're going to cook any protein by any method, you're going to need this seasoning.
I'm telling you, this spice is going to UP your cooking game to levels you never thought possible. Fiesta Fajita Seasoning is going to change your life.
Do you think I'm kidding? Here is the website to order it online and in many grocery stores, locally like HEB. Get it and if you don't like it well then, you're a liar. WOW, that escalated quickly. Just try it. Trust me please.
I was introduced to Fiesta Fajita Seasoning over twenty years ago when an admirable cooking friend/adversary ( if you cook a lot like I do, you'll understand the hyphen) blended 8 tablespoons of Fiesta Fajita Seasoning with two bottles of Kraft French dressing as a marinade for beef and vegetable shishkabobs. At that point I had never tried either the Fiesta Fajita Seasoning or French Dressing for that matter (looking back I was but a mere sous- chef in my own kitchen then) but I will say the shishkabobs were the best I had ever tasted and I was sold.
Hook, line, and sinker and I have been using Fiesta Fajita Seasoning on just about everything ever since.
One word of caution.
Okay don't freak out, I'm the melodramatic one here. It's just about the Fiesta Seasoning label. There are so many varieties of Fiesta spices that even their most popular seasoning comes in a few variations such as sodium-free, mesquite, southwest, and chicken fajita seasoning.
You are looking for the Fiesta Fajita Seasoning with the green dot on the top right side of the bottle.
And I am looking forward to your accolades and heartfelt gratitude for willing the universe to your favor. Flavor favor. Soooo melodramatic.
Oh, Fiesta Fajita Seasoning, you have changed my life, turned me from being just a 'lonesome sous' to now a 'damn good cooking wife'. And when my repertoire needed something special you were there to end my strife.
A poem dedicated to seasoning? Yes. It's that good.
See ya on the spice aisle.
