Victoria East Titans Advance in 31-30 Nail Biter

It took a come from behind effort for the Victoria East Titans to overcome a 3rd quarter 16-10 deficit to end up beating Austin McCallum 31-30 in the Class 5A, Division II high school football playoff game.

Late in the 1st half, the Titans scored their first points of the game on a 25 yard pass from quarterback Bailey Zappe to wide receiver Tre Wolf. A turnover gave the Titans a shot at a field goal with just 3 seconds left in the half, and junior Jack Traugott hit a 49 yarder.

In the end, Zappe and Titans running back Brandon Tumlinson mounted over 200 yards of offense with 2 touchdowns.

Next up for the Titans, a neutral playoff game against Edcouch-Elsa next Friday (November 25th) at 5:30pm.
