Spring Break in Cancun Just Got Easier

What timing! Spring break (believe it or not) is coming up fast and Spirit airlines are hoping to be a part of your vacation plans. Nonstop service to Cancun, Mexico from Austin-Bergstrom will begin Wednesday. Later this year, Austin-Bergstrom plans to announce additional international destinations.

This particular announcement means we could be on a plane and in Cancun in a matter of hours on any day of the year! Yes, the service will be offered year-round. That is the plan, anyway. This will be the first time Spirit has offered an international flight out of Austin-Bergstrom so let's hope for a busy spring.

I may not be able to hop on that plane tomorrow, but I like knowing that I could if I really wanted to. Let's hear it for spring break!

If you fly out of Austin you are probably familiar with Spirit. They fly to Vegas, Orlando, LA, Chicago, and can take Texas passengers as far east as Baltimore although nobody really wants to go there.

KVUE.com reports that Spirit flew 772,373 people from Austin to one destination or another in 2019. Southwest had over 5 million passengers by comparison. In 2019, Austin-Bergstrom served over 17 million travelers.
