In Houston, a middle school teacher is being celebrated as a hero after intervening in a disturbing late-night assault on a 15-year-old girl.

A DISTURBING SCENE OUTSIDE THE WINDOW

Last Sunday, just before midnight, David Garza heard a desperate plea for help from a 15-year-old girl. Rushing to his window, he saw a man attacking the young girl on the ground, trying to strip her.

“I looked out the window, and I saw a man beating up a woman on the ground. He was trying to take her clothes off,” Garza said.

CONFRONTING THE ATTACKER

Without hesitation, Garza grabbed his pistol and confronted the assailant. "I asked what was going on, and the girl screamed, ‘I’m 15. Help me.’ So, I pointed my gun at him," Garza recounted. The suspect, caught off guard, let the girl go and fled, with Garza giving chase until the girl reached safety at a nearby apartment.

SCARED BUT REMAINING BRAVE

Meanwhile, Garza, who has previously intervened in similar situations, insists he did what was right. "I was scared, too, but she needed help more than I was afraid," he said.
