Texas came out swinging on Day 1 of the Women’s College World Series.

Both the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Texas Longhorns walked away with big wins, setting the tone and proving that the Lone Star State isn’t here to play around.

The Longhorns looked every bit the powerhouse they’ve been all season, and took care of business against Florida.

Texas beat the Gators 3-0, setting the tone for the day. Their energy was controlled but dominant and now they move on to the winners bracket.

Texas Tech dominates on day 1.

Meanwhile, the Red Raiders made their booster club proud with a jaw-dropping performance against Ole Miss. Star pitcher NiJaree Canady, often referred to as the "million-dollar arm," lived up to every bit of the hype.

She threw five innings of perfection: no runs, no hits, no walks, and no Ole Miss runner even made it to first base. Backed by a defense that refused to crack under pressure, Tech looked composed, confident, and ready for more.

With both Texas teams off to a red-hot start, the buzz is real: could we see an all-Texas showdown in the final stretch of the WCWS?
