It's no secret that these last few months have been especially hard on the human psyche as we've learned to navigate our lives through a global pandemic, social distancing, economic downfalls, and isolation.

According to a riveting article in the Washington Post, " A third of Americans are showing signs of clinical anxiety or depression, Census Bureau data shows, the most definitive and alarming sign yet of the psychological toll exacted by the coronavirus pandemic."

A third of Americans.

This is a 25 percent increase in anxiety and depression as polled by Americans in the last decade according to the recent Washington Post article. Excessive anxiety and depression can have lasting effects on the body long after the COVID pandemic subsides including damage to the cardiovascular and digestive systems.

So what can we do to curtail the feeling of being blue when so much feels out of our control?

You might be surprised to learn we have more control than we think we do, and how and what we think plays the most crucial role in how we feel.

Lane Johnson, licensed therapist and Exec. Director of Gulf Bend Center will be our host on August 4th at 11 am as we come together virtually for an honest conversation about getting and overcoming the blues during uncertain times.
